Although any licensed surgeon can perform a hair transplant procedure, it's best to use a board certified dermatological
surgeon that specializes in hair loss. You can find these surgeons listed at the American Society for Dermatologic
Surgery.
Next go down the list and find the surgeons who operate hair loss clinics in your area. Choose several. Call and make an
appointment to visit the facility. Don't make an appointment for a consultation, just say that you want to visit, pick up
some literature, and get a tour. When you arrive use your judgement to determine if the facility is clean and
professional. Be sure to ask for references from satisfied patients.
Once you have narrowed down the list of hair loss clinics to one or two or so, call your state agency that licenses
doctors, or visit their web site, to see if they have any negative information. Some States do not report this information
to the public so you may not be able to find out. Also call the Better Business Bureau to see if there have been any
complaints and how they were resolved. Be sure to check under both the name of the surgeon and the name of the hair loss
clinics.
Hopefully you're now armed with the basic information to make the right choice when choosing hair loss clinics. Good luck!
